The Certified Information Technology Professional designation (CITP), established in 2000 by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), is awarded to CPAs with significant experience in information technology strategic planning, implementation, management, and business strategies for information systems. The dual CPA/CITP designation serves as the bridge between management and the technology department, leveraging the CPA's strategic and business skills.

David S, Palan, CPA, CITP, CGMA, CIS, CAAS
David S. Palan, CPA founded his CPA's & Certified Information Technology Professionals business in 1997, after recognizing a need for high quality, hands-on, full service tax, accounting, business finance, and systems consulting services at the client site level, which was not provided adequately by the traditional medium to large sized local CPA firm.
Mr. Palan's experience in industry includes service as national cost accounting manager for a national integrated chemical and equipment manufacturer, as well as controllership responsibility for multiple wholesale/distribution, and property management entities. Mr Palan has also served as Chief Financial Officer for various entities including charter school, magazine publishing, Fortune 1000 software development, and Fortune 500 technology consulting. In addition, Mr. Palan has served as audit manager, EDP auditor, tax accountant, system administrator, and MAS department manager for medium and large CPA firms in the Minneapolis area.
Mr. Palan is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management, with degree majors in Strategic Management, Marketing, Business Finance, and Accounting. In addition to his certification as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Mr. Palan has also been certified by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as a Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP), and by the AICPA/CIMA Association of Certified Professional Accountants as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
Mr. Palan also holds current certifications as Certified Gold Star QuickBooks ProAdvisor, as well as Certified QuickBooks Point Of Sale ProAdvisor. In addition, Mr. Palan holds the Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certification, as well as the QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions Certification.
Mr. Palan has also been awarded certifications by Microsoft Great Plains, as Certified Installation Specialist (CIS), and Certified Accounting Applications Specialist (CAAS), for the Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics accounting systems products. In addition, Mr. Palan has been certified by Microsoft Great Plains as Certified Professional - Small Business Manager Financials.
Mr. Palan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Tax Membership Section, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Information Technology Membership Section. Mr. Palan is also a member of the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants.
